The next annual conference of EBJIS, EBJIS 2011, takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark 15-17 September 2011.
EBJIS is dedicated in the battle against infections in the musculoskeletal system and appeals not only to Orthopaedic Surgeons but also to Microbiologists, Infectious Disease specialists, Molecular Biologists, Material Science Specialists.
The conference programme offers a broad range of topics within the field of musculoskeletal infections. The field includes prevention, treatment and rehabilitation, and in the current economic situation there will be focus on reducing costs of treatment. Treatment of these infections is truly multidisciplinary and multifaceted. To encourage multidisciplinary collaboration we hold a conjoint symposium with European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infections Diseases, ESCMID, Friday 16 September.
Economic evaluations of different treatments are complex, but we have to realise that resources are not inexhaustible and as specialist we need to find the treatment that fulfill the three fundamental goals: Highest probability of cure, lowest morbidity of the patient and lowest cost for the society. This year we have a special session of health economics in order to elucidate this increasingly important subject.
Bacterial biofilm is still a very hot topic and will probably remain so for the next decade. We have been able to gather some of the worlds leading scientist in this subject.
The programme will be a mixture of free papers, key note lectures, symposia as well as expert panel discussions, that we hope will inspire to further research and enhance the clinical work for health care professionals around the world.
Beside the scientific content, the participants get the opportunity to network and exchange views with fellow delegates and speakers.
