How to Apply:
Start your application here. New applicants should create an account, complete all mandatory fields (marked with *), and, if desired, skip optional fields. For first-time applicants, Ordinary membership is the entry point. For more details, refer to the EBJIS Statutes, Membership Section, Chapter II.
Important Notes:
- All EBJIS communications are sent via the Head Office or our PCO (CAP Partner). If you receive any suspicious emails claiming to be from EBJIS leadership, please contact us immediately at info@ebjis.org.
- Following your application, the EBJIS board will review your application at their next meeting, after which you will receive an email confirming your membership status with further details. This process might take up to 3-4 month depending on the meeting schedule, we appreciate your patience.

Membership Benefits
Become an EBJIS Member and you will enjoy many unique benefits
1. You will receive a discount from the Annual EBJIS Meeting registration fee which is similar to the annual membership fee (130 euros).
2. Become an EBJIS Fellow: members are eligible to apply for the fully-funded annual Travelling Fellowship program https://www.ebjis.org/fellowship Three Travelling Fellowships are awarded every year.
3. As a member of EBJIS you are eligible to receive reduced article processing charges when publishing an open-access article in The Journal of Bone and Joint Infection (JBJI).
4. Access all EBJIS Newsletters and all the recent news related to Bone and Joint Infection.
5. Access the EBJIS Annual General Assembly with voting rights on key decisions.
6. Access the EBJIS community, that encourages discussion and collaboration between the EBJIS Members on clinical cases.
7. The Executive Committee support Members who organise scientific meetings and promote them among our Members and in the EBJIS website.
8. Apply for a Country Delegate position – a Committee which serves to improve the promotion of the EBJIS in many countries around the world, to facilitate contacts with interested colleagues and to encourage Bone and Joint Infection centres.

Membership Categories
The membership of the Society is composed of Ordinary Members, Emeritus Members and Distinguished Members.
Ordinary Members
Individuals active clinically or scientifically in the field of Musculoskeletal Infections (Bone and Joint Infections), showing appropriate experience andtraining in the field, may become Ordinary Members.
The Executive Committee shall confirm that the applicant meets the requirements for membership, with appropriate experience and commitment in the field of Musculoskeletal Infections (Bone and Joint Infections).
If approved, the applicant will be presented to the next General Assembly for approval. Ordinary Members have the right to vote at the General Assembly.
Emeritus Members
Ordinary Members may become Emeritus Members only when they cease their professional activities in Bone and Joint Infections.
Ordinary Members must apply in writing to the Executive Committee for approval. Emeritus Members are exempted from the annual membership fee. They may not become Members of the Executive Committee. Emeritus Members have the right to vote at the General Assembly.
Distinguished Members
On the recommendation of the Executive Committee, the title Distinguished Member may be awarded by the General Assembly.
Distinguished Members are exempted from the annual membership fee and the Congress registration fee. They may not become Members of the Executive Committee. Distinguished Members have the right to vote at the General Assembly.

Call for Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Bone and Joint Infection
The Journal of Bone and Joint Infection (JBJI) is a scientific open-access publication of the European Bone and Joint Infection Society (EBJIS) and Musculoskeletal Infection Society (MSIS). This is a unique journal that exclusively publishes papers in all areas of osteo-articular and soft-tissue infections.
JBJI is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as Editor-in-Chief. For this task, the Editor will play a pivotal role in shaping the editorial direction, ensuring the quality and integrity of content, and leading a team of talented people. The currently associated editors and the advisory board are well-known key opinion leaders in the field (https://www.journal-of-bone-and-joint-infection.net/editorial_board.html) that will help you with running the journal to be the top one in this important area of medicine. The estimated time that is needed for this task is approximately 8-10 hours per week and is an honorary task that will not be financially reimbursed.
Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership to the editorial team, guiding the strategic direction of publications.
- Oversee the editorial process from content ideation to publication, ensuring adherence to timelines and editorial standards.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and excellence within the editorial team.
- Maintain and enhance the publication’s reputation for quality and credibility.
- Develop and maintain relationships with contributors, reviewers, and stakeholders.
- Keep abreast of trends and emerging topics to inform editorial decisions.
- Represent the publication at conferences, events, and industry forums.
Qualifications
- Being a member of EBJIS.
- Advanced degree in any of the different areas of Bone and joint infections.
- Proven experience in a senior editorial role is not necessary although it will be positively considered.
- A deep understanding of editorial best practices and standards.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute editorial initiatives.
