ABOUT EBJIS
What is EBJIS
Welcome to the European Bone and Joint Infection Society (EBJIS) – a dedicated community of medical professionals and scientists committed to advancing knowledge and fostering excellence in the prevention and treatment of musculoskeletal infections. Established with the vision of promoting awareness and understanding of infections affecting the bone and joint systems, EBJIS has evolved into a pivotal platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
Our society operates as a non-profit organization, driven by the shared goal of enhancing the collective understanding of musculoskeletal infections. Membership in EBJIS is a testament to your commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in this specialized field. Currently, our annual membership fee is 130 euros, supporting the operational continuity of our society.
At the heart of EBJIS is a commitment to scientific excellence. For the past years, we have recognized outstanding contributions through the awarding of scientific prizes for the best papers and poster during our annual meeting. This recognition underscores our dedication to fostering research and innovation within the bone and joint infection community.

EBJIS is governed by a dedicated Board, consisting of a President, Vice-President (the next President), Past-President, General Secretary, Treasurer, and two additional board members. This leadership structure ensures continuity over six years, providing a stable foundation for the society’s growth and development.
Get ready for the 43rd Annual Meeting of the European Bone & Joint Infection Society which will take place in Bologna, Italy from 11-13 September 2025. Our annual meetings, crucial for knowledge exchange and networking, are partially supported by industry contributions. However, securing sponsorship for international meetings remains a challenge, as we strive to maintain our independence from commercial interests.
Reflecting on our journey, EBJIS has overcome its humble beginnings as a small study group in the early eighties to emerge as a vital resource for medical professionals and researchers. While some early members have moved on, their contributions laid the groundwork for the vibrant community we are today. Many may not be aware of the significant efforts invested, especially in our formative years, to establish the robust bone and joint infection platform that now thrives.
We invite you to join EBJIS, become part of our dynamic community, and contribute to the ongoing advancement of knowledge in musculoskeletal infections. Together, we shape the future of our field, building upon the legacy of dedication and passion that has defined EBJIS since its inception.
