  • Catch the metro “Line E”, Destination “Estádio do Dragão”. Exit at “Trindade”

Getting to Porto

Porto, a picturesque city nestled along the Douro River, is a captivating destination with its historic charm, vibrant culture, and delectable cuisine. Here is a quick guide for those arriving by road, rail, or air.

1. By Air:

The Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO) serves as Porto’s main international gateway. Located approximately 15 kilometers northwest of the city center. Upon arrival, you can easily reach the city center by taxi (or similar) or by the metro system. The metro provides a convenient and cost-effective way to travel into the city. 2. By Train:

If you are coming from Lisbon airport (or other destinations) there are trains that connect Lisbon to Porto in about three hours. For information about train trips to Porto, please visit the CP website: http://www.cp.pt/passageiros/en/  

3. By Bus:

Long-distance buses are another means of reaching Porto (from Lisbon airport or other destinations). Many bus companies operate services to and from Porto.

We have gathered the most common questions in this FAQ overview.

App

There is no printed programme book for the conference. 
Instead can download the EBJIS Society app. The app can be downloaded in the app stores by searching for “EBJIS”. 
The app includes  all necessary information about the programme, e-posters, abstracts, general information, sponsor and exhibitor overview, venue maps, and more.

All participants will receive a QR code via email a few days before the congress. This QR code is used to print your name badge upon arrival at the venue.
The conference name badges must be worn during the entire conference. Access to the conference venue will not be granted without the name badge issued by the Conference Organiser.

You will receive an email after the conference with details on how to download your digital certificates.

Please note you need to scan your badge each day in the afternoon to get your CME credits.

A manned cloakroom is available in the registration area for all participants free of charge. 

All breaks are included in the registration for all participants and will be served in the exhibition area.

There will be lunch bags served for the industry symposia.

All e-Posters are displayed throughout the conference on digital screens located in the Poster Area in the Ribeira Halls. E-Posters are also available in the conference app.

Instructions on format and upload of the e-posters can be found here.

Found items should be returned to the registration desk. If you lose something, please report to this desk for assistance. 

All mobile phones must be on silent mode during the sessions. 

Smoking is prohibited in the venue. There are dedicated outdoor smoking areas available.

Parking spaces have been reserved for conference participants by the congress centre.

Please note that video recording and photos will be captured during the congress for use on the EBJIS website and social media.

Recording will take place in session rooms and exhibition areas and will focus on capturing the atmosphere of the conference.

  • Please bring your presentation on a USB flash drive.
  • All presenters must upload their presentation in the Speakers Preview Room at least two hours before their session.
  • Experienced technicians will be on hand to assist you.
  • Presenters with early morning sessions are advised to upload their presentations the day before.

CME accreditation

(EUROPEAN CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATIONAL CREDITS)

Pre-course accreditation

The EBJIS Pre-course on Spinal Infections, Bologna, Italy 10/09/2025 – 10/09/2025, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 6.0 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).

Conference accreditation

The 43rd Annual Meeting of the European Bone & Joint Infection Society (EBJIS 2025), Bologna, Italy 11/09/2025 – 13/09/2025, has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME®) with 15.5 European CME credits (ECMEC®s).

Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME® credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Information on the process to convert EACCME® credit to AMA credit can be found at https://edhub.ama-assn.org/pages/applications.

Live educational activities, occurring outside of Canada, recognised by the UEMS-EACCME® for ECMEC®s are deemed to be Accredited Group Learning Activities (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
